There are a few beaches in the City of Syracuse and the followings are our favorite:

1 Solarium “Ru Frati”

Open only in summer time in the north of the City Center (the area is also known as Pista Ciclabile). Along the beautiful walkside path you will find a permanent open-air art installation

2 Solarium Forte Vigliena

(5 minutes walking distance in Ortigia) Rocky beach in Ortigia. This is the favorite spot for locals and tourists. Water is most of the time crystalline and is accessible the all year

3 Calarossa Beach

(5 minutes walking distance in Ortigia) is located in the Turba district. A long stairway will bring you down to the beach. The “Cala” is actually a very little shingle and most curiously, it’s artificial

You can reach wonderful beaches from 15 to 45 minutes by car  in the South of Syracuse

4 Punta Mola -Pillirina - Varco 34

Is just in front of Ortigia in the cape closing the lagoon. You need a car, a scooter or a boat to reach this very small, but beautiful beach with a breathtaking landscape.

5 Varco Venti3

Nicely equipped rocky beach with enchanting blue water in the maritime reserve of Plemmirio. The perfect spot for snorkelling and for a sunset aperitivo - Open only in summer time

6 Lido Arenella

In 2023 the sand in quite reduced, because of tides and is not big as it use to be. It can be very noisy with not pleasant music and disco from the nearby resort animator, but only one hour (11.30-12.30) in the morning and one hour in the afternoon (17.00-18.00). Light blue water and fully equipped. Ideal for families (entrance in the equipped area is around 15 euro per person). You can reach this beach by urban bus from the bus station. Open only in Summer time

7 Ognina e Punta Asparano

Rocky beach with crystalline water. Perfect spot for snorkeling and relax on one of the Kiosk at sunset or to have dinner at night along the small harbor

8 Cava Grande

Amazing falling waters and small lakes surrounded by nature in the Valley of Cassibile. You need hiking shoes or training shoes and you have to walk for 30-40 minutes in the nature

9 Pineta del Gelsomineto

Is a wonderful white sandy beach surrounded by maritime pines wood, while the sea is a myriad of enchanting colours (you have to pay for the parking). Is perfect for children if you have an umbrella and is our favourite beach!

10 Pantanello

This beautiful beach near the town of Avola is lined with agave. Fine sand and slowly sloping seabed make it ideal for children

11 ​Calabernardo

This beach with its fine white sand isn't far from Noto. A still authentic fisherman village by the beach. Behind it are small dunes and the river mouth

12 Lido di Noto

The long, wide beach is easily accessed from the promenade. it offers clear water, charming bathing facilities and the option of water sports

13 Eloro

An easy walking path through Mediterranean scrub lead to the beautiful Pizzuta beach. Further south are two more beaches near archeological site of Eloro. Also one of our favourite!

14 Calamosche

Accessible only from land (15 minute walking) this beach is part of Vendicari natural reserve. The position of the inlet between two rocky headlands offer a wide variety of scenery similar to Caribbean beaches

15 Vendicari

The long beach with fine sand stretches along the Oasi Natural Reserve and the Vendicari lagoon. traces of past human activity punctuate this beautiful landscape

16 San Lorenzo

This stretch of coast is known for its crystal clear water and sandy beaches scattered among the rocks. Access is easy and the landscape is beautiful.

17 Marzamemi

Prettily set around a crescent harbor backed by the port’s old ‘tonnara’. The village is still renowned for its tuna dishes and is home to a open air film festival in late July

18 Isola delle Correnti

At the southernmost tip of Sicily is a sandy point with tiny dunes that stretches out toward the Island. There's ample space for swimmers and windsurfers and rocks on the western side.

19 Carratois

In the northern coast in front of Africa a Caribbean atmosphere under palm umbrellas and surrounded by dunes. Ideal also for families.

The coast of Ispica is a succession of rocky golden cliffs pieced by grottos, among wich you can find some beautiful beaches
